For the past two-three months I have done nothing but exercise and change my food intake around completely (in a healthy way). I never noticed any change in my appearance or weight and so I became frustrated. Anywho, I took up bulemia for when I eat stuff that isn't on my normal meal plan, such as anything with white carbs, candy, cookies, etc. Well, It's the end of april now and I did not get my period. I went off the pill two months ago, have not been sexually active in months. The only thing I can think of is that my period disappeared because of my diet, though i did get it in march, which is when i started the diet...i also took diet pills (dexatrim natural) and that could possibly have something to do with it though I havent taken it at all in the month of april. Could my bulemia have something to do with it, though I only throw up maybe once a week if that?

Yes, it can definitely play a major role on wether or not you get your period. I was anorexic for over a year and a half and didn't get my period once. I am also a college athlete and I know that when you exercise a lot and don't give your body the right amount of food and rest, it can also mess up your cycle. My advice for you would be to get back on the pill so you can get your period and most importantly...eat better! Eat more often because if you are going to be exercising so much, your body will need it.

Please realize how bad it is for your to purge! You can do serious interal damage to your throat and mouth and organs! You seem like a girl that wants to be healthy (because you exercise!) so don't wreck that by purging!

Be happy...be healthy...

Much love,
Jen

Hi Moreen! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

First of all, the others are right in saying that bulimia reeks physical and emotional damage to all who get trapped into its vicious web. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif It's a scary place to be, please becareful, and seek help for yourself now. You'll be glad that you did in the future.

As for your period, YES, bulimia can definitly effect it. I've been bulimic for longer than I can even remember, and when I was purging at my worst, I skipped my period (or had a very light spotting) for nearly 8 months. It took eating healthy to get back on track again.

Good luck, and possibly---it might be beneficial to get back on the pill. For the sheer fact that it can help regulate your cycle. I have had friends who struggled with bulimia, go on the pill during their recovery, to get their periods back on track.

Best of luck to you!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

NEVER GIVE UP
