I'm new to the board, and am really looking for somewhere to post, feel comfortable, and actually get responses.
I have been reading the posts here, and don't think I fit in. I'm not like you guys. I have never thrown up on purpose, and don't think that I could ever bring myself to do it. I just binge. And binge, and binge, and binge! This puts me at a GROSSLY high weight. Here's the problem...
I didn't used to binge much. Growing up, it would be a little bit of eating stuff that I shouldn't here and there. I was ALWAYS fat growing up, though. I have problems with my feet and knees (4 operations so far)and there's nothing else the doctor can do. I know that being so huge makes it worse, but I can't really even walk for long periods of time. Basically, I feel completely screwed over.
A couple of weeks ago, I ate healthy for 3 weeks. No sugar, no pop, no fatty chips or anything, ate regular meals, etc. On top of that, I exercised every day, which I'm still paying for with pain. With all that got 3 weeks...I lost nothing. Does this make sense to anyone??
This past week, I tried a jello and broth only diet, determined to do SOMETHING. It made me sick, so I ended up binging. The bigger I get, the more depredded I get, the more I binge It fees WAY out of comtrol now. I feel like I'm at the end of my rope and have no options. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Aww Cocomo I am so sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. Have you ever considered getting a nutritionist? They truly are amazing! S/He can tell you about a sensable plan to help you out. But trust me when I say, the more you restrict your food the more likely you are to binge. It's just a fact of life. Eating disorders, no matter what form, are very serious and the sooner you get help the sooner your life will become better. Is there anyone you can tell about your bingeing? I know it's hard admitting we have a problem, but you just took the first step by posting and I would like to applaud you for that. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif GO YOU! Maybe if you want you can check out this site. http://www.overeatersanonymous.org/ I'm not sure how much of a help it'll be but it's worth a shot. Good luck! And keep us posted.

I haven't talked to a nutritionist, specifically. I have brought it up to my doctor before, though. I gotta say, I think he's a quack. He was telling me to do the whole low carb Atkins type thing. I'm at a high risk for type II Diabetes...and that way of eating is supposedly good for it. It makes me sick too, though. I dunno. I should get a new Dr...I just don't know where to start.
I have thought about OA before, but can't bring myself to do it. Don't really know why. Mainly because by the time I get home from work, I'm so exhausted that I can't bring myself to move. When I do, it's either to play Dance Dance Revolution, or frisbee. Exercise. SOMETHING.
U do fit in here!!!! Everyone fits in here...if it is to do with eating (and u said that u eat and eat and eat) so u do fit in here. Someone will always respond... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif they are all cool people here!!XXXxx

hello, welcome to the board, and yes you do fit in here! i think i'd agree taht a nutitionist would be agood idea, but i think you should really see a counsellor or someone to work out the reasons behind why you binge. food is a comfort for lots of things and once you are in a vicious circle the reasons why you needed to in first place have changed but the habit is so graet. trying fad diets of any kind is a really bad idea. if you dont trust your doc then change. book an appointment with a nutritionist TODAY! then arrange to talk. also dont get down hearted when you eat well and still dont loose any. some people have really slow metabilisms and as you've said that you've always had access weight i imagine there is a chance of an actual medical problem. why not ask your doctor to refer you to a specialist at your hospital. a few simple tests, a die and exercise plan, and a good talk could start to make your life easier. please remember you're not alone,we are all here and i'm sure your family and friends are too.
this may sound a little cheesy! but you only get one chance at this life, so ask yourself do you want to live it miserable or do you want to be happy and feel good about yourself? be pro-active, and change your life TODAY!!!!
stay in touch.
lots of love and big kisses

Hi Cocomo! And WELCOME! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif
Just like everyone has been saying...you soooo fit in here! We all have issues with food, it's such a struggle. I'm so sorry that you're having such a rough time right now. I would never wish "food issues" on anybody. I know they lead to a life of misery.
I, too, was always fat as a child. It makes it so incredibly hard, doesn't it? And it only gets worse as adult! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif Nobody can take that away from you, but, like the others have suggested, there are people who can make things a little better. A nutritionist is a wonderful idea. Or maybe a friend who wants to help you. Support is the most important thing. And remember, it takes lots of time to lose weight. It's something that takes many people years---but the journey of 100 miles starts with one step!! And we're all here to encourage you, every step of the way!
And remember, that along the way, you may have slip ups, and ya know what? That's ok too. Because you're human, and to err is human. Nobody expects perfection, except maybe yourself. You're a wonderful human being regardless of what you weigh. And people will love you no more if you lose weight than they do right now. Do this for yourself, and it does get easier in time!
Best of luck to you!!! And remember, YOU CAN DO THIS!!! I have faith in you, hon, you're a lot stronger than you think you are. Just posting and admidtting that you have a problem is a huuuuuge step! Give yourself a hug for me! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/angel.gif
