Hi, I was wondering if you could have lymphoma even if blood work can back normal. I have been having infections, fevers, swollen, painful lymph nodes, night sweats, severe fatigue, and very, very itchy skin and itchy lymph nodes for over a year. I also get little bumps over the affected lymph nodes.

I had tonsillitis and had a tonsillectomy, but its been almost a year and I am still getting the throat infections. I have had a CBC, ANA, and SED Rate and they came back normal. I also had a Cat Scan of my neck, chest, and abdomen and it showed swollen lymph nodes, but my ENT said its not that extreme to worry about. That was about 6 months ago. Now, I feel like my neck area is more enlarged and I am still having all these symptoms and all sorts of infections, but I don’t now what to do .

I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate any input.

Thank you,

Nicola

Nicola,

You may like to try a few doses of Arsenicum Album 200c and see if that helps. It is a minerals based homeopathic remedy that has treated conditions like exterme fatigue, recurrent infections ec. It may just help!

Thank you so much for your advice. Yes I do take herbal remedies, vitamins, antioxidants, and I drink green tea often. There just has to be something medically wrong. I have tons of respiratory infections, yeast infections, throat infections all the time. Just with all of my symptoms like fevers everyday, its not normal for someone to have this.

I am just wondering if anyone knows of or has experienced any symptoms like these. Now all of my lymph nodes are swollen; my armpits, groin, neck, the glands that run from my ear to the back of my neck are really big....

I really appreciate any information you have

Thank you so much,

Nicola

Hello... the only way to know for sure is to do a biopsy...ask your ENT to do a biopsy that way it will ease your mind... be presistent with your doctors remember this is your life and body you need to be in control of what happens dont let them dictate you when your not happy with there answers or get a second opionion not that something is wrong but to ease your mind...

Hi Nicola

I agree with Mysti (although all the other suggestions have also been very good)

It may be that your lymph nodes are up because you are fighting these infections - that is their job after all!!! But you're worried that it may be something a little more serious and that can add to feelings of fatigue.

More often than not these things are nothing but I'm a great believer in getting it checked out for 2 reasons

1 Peace of mind
2 If (and it's a big if) it turns out to be a little more serious - it's best to
find out and get it sorted out sooner rather than later.

I also agree with Mysti on standing firm with the doctors - you need satisfactory answers ad assurances.

Good luck and take care

Ails xx

Have you checked into cat scratch fever. I have an acquaintance who had similar symptoms, had a biopsy of an enlarged node only to find that it was cat scratch fever!

Hello... I think both Jet and Ails both make good points... and everyone on this board are couragious and very informative... it could be a infectious disease like cat scratch fever your immune system seems to be more affected ..I have both cat scratch fever (toxoplasmosis) and mono but i have had them both for a really long time and did not know it.. my immune system wasnt affected..I rarely get sick i think its cause im too busy to be sick..lol...and both of those can cause swollen and multypling lymph nodes.. i dont want to scare you but the only reason why my docs are concerned is because of my night sweats and the fact that antibotics caused them to multiply..makes them curious...hence for doing the biopsy...

have you been tested for mono or toxoplasmosis??

please excuse the spelling

Thank you everyone for your replies!

I have been tested for mono but not for anything else. I know that lymph nodes usually swell when you get an infection, but is it normal to have fevers, night sweats, and infections for almost two years now? Also, within the last few months my post nasal fluid has contained huge amounts of blood, and my hands are very swollen when I wake up in the mornings until about 1pm or so.

Thank you all again for your replies; You have no idea how much I appreciate them!

Hey Nicola
I also have the same problem, my lymph nodes (especially near neck) and swollon and tender. Its been going on for around 7 months now, everytime i go to the doctor he gives me anti-biotics, my blood work came back normal besides slighly elevated liver enzymes. I went to him today and he said to me f it doesnt get better after this course of anti-biotics we will do a biopsy to see how things go. I am currently body building and when ever i work out that area or areas close by they become very sore. I really hope i can an answer soon as i am sick of these sore throats...
Hope you get better soon, i will keep you updated

MrMuscles thank you for your reply I really appreciate it! It sounds like we have almost the same thing. When my symptoms first started I only had sore throats and swollen/tender lymph nodes and fevers. Do you have fevers too? Yes please let me know what happens, I'm interested to see what your diagnoses is too because its so similiar to what I have. I will let you know too if I find anything out!

Thanks again,

~Nicola

I hope you are feeling better. My consultant said to me that you can't test the white cells for lymphoma from your veins, and that they need to take a biopsy of the lump. Have you had one yet?

Nicola720

No, I haven't had a lump tested. I don't really have one specific lump, but almost all of my lymph nodes are extremely painful and swollen, and I am still sick all the time So, I don't really know where to go from here.

Thank you for your reply!

Sincerely,

Nicola

Hi Nicola,
I'm the mother of a son (25) who's had swollen painful glands all over for the last 2+ years. He's so very sick. We're still looking for answers but it's possibly Lyme which is tricky to diagnose and treat. It's even tougher finding md's that are interested in finding out what's wrong. All the obvious things have been ruled out. I know how scary it must be NOT KNOWING! But know this............we're all here praying for on another. That's good medicine. You take care and know we're thinking about you.

Hi Nicola

I cannot explain the blisters either. I have night sweats and I am suffering lately with severe itching, I think it's worse at night, I only say that because when you have trouble sleeping you become more aware as the night drags on.

My neck hurts when I drink alcohol and when I keep having a sore throat, it effects my speech does this happen to you.

(Susie I hope your son gets better.)

It is worrying my blood tests are mostly normal, usually the inflammation one comes back higher, but no answers.

If you have any answers or thoughts let me know kind regards Susie W x

Thanks Susie for your reply!

It sounds to me that your son and I have a lot in common with our mysterious illnesses. I wonder if we have the same thing. Does your son have night sweats, fevers, fatigue, and frequent infections too, besides the swollen lymph nodes? Do his lymph nodes hurt? Mine are very swollen all over my body, and they really, really hurt terribly. In a day or so I am getting blood work for my immune system so I will keep you updated. Maybe our experiences will help each other get diagnosed.

Good luck with everything and thanks again!

Hi Nicola

It is me that has the swollen Lymph nodes, my son had something different.

My lump is on my neck, I don't think it is the actual lump that hurts, as it never used to, but my neck is very painful, and swollen on the same side as the lymph node that is enlarged.

I have night-sweats, I don't suffer with them all of the time they come and go, My clothes are soaked through and I can squeeze my hair (nice!).

I have had a swollen abdomen for nearly a year now, and scans showed an enlarged spleen, no one knew the cause. I started to feel ever so tired all the time, even if I'd slept really well. I became really unwell with viral meningitis, flu symptoms, chicken pox and blisters mostly in my head.

This year I started to get really bad chest pain, and I thought I was having a heart attack, I have been in and out of hospital to no avail, as no one seemed to want to put everything together to find the cause.

About three months ago I started feeling worse, ill everyday, I can get up on some days and manage to get dressed and may be take the kids to school, but not very often! I spend a lot of time in bed, I feel as though there is an enormous weight on me, and I can't lift myself up.

I know there is a lot wrong with me, I won't even mention the swelling in my hands!!

My doctor wants me to have a biopsy of the lump done.

What's going on with you?.

It's nice to have someone who understands what your going through, thanks for your e-mail.

Take care Susie X

Hi Nicola

I have been to my appointment and the consultant thinks I have NHD and I have had extensive blood tests today, I have to go back in a week and then he wants me to have a biopsy of the lump and a sample of my bone marrow.
I'm worried, oh well at least I'll know for sure, hope your ok. X

Fairy-Lights,

I hope you are doing well! Have you gotten your test results back yet? When you went for blood work did anything show up, because on my basic blood work nothing has shown up.

I hope you are doing good, please let me know

 HI mate!

Long time no hear! How are you? I saw the consultant and some of the basic bloods came back high, and apparently so did some of the ones they sent off, which one's I don't know?

I was referred to an ENT consultant who put a camera up my nose to look at the throat, my lingual tonsils are enlarged, which he says is rare, they are just lymph nodes, my scan showed that the left node in my neck was enlarged, within a week it has doubled in size, I had another blister out-break because of my itching I scratched a couple so much at night it caused an infection, so I was put on antibiotics. I have found another lymph node in my collar bone om the left side also. Who knows? I'm scheduled for surgery for Wednesday. They think I have a rare form of lymphoma, I am positive I don't.

Let me know your thoughts and up-date me on what's happening with you.

Susie xx

I hope everything goes okay with your surgery. I am going to a new ENT tomorrow so I'll see what he decides. My lymphnodes have been really painful lately especially the one that goes from the back of my ear down to the base of my neck. It was so bad a few days that I almost went to the ER, but finally decided against it. I wonder if we have the same thing, whatever we have? I think they are going to take out my lymphnode too. I have infections too and chest pains, swollen hands (although my hands, they are usually worst in the morning when I wake up) and a lot of other symptoms you have.

Just as I was writing this I found another swollen lymph node on the other side of my neck. I just want to figure out what I have so I can fight it, its hard to fight something when you don't know what it is or even how to fight it! I'm sure you feel the same way.

I'll let you know how my dr. appt. goes. As for you take care of yourself and check up with me to let me know how you are doing!

:) Hi

I hope that your appointment went well with the ENT consultant.

I am feeling very sore today!! My ENT consultant removed the lymph node from my neck and said the node was active, that could just be due to a virus, so I am very optimistic that they will find nothing!. He also took a biopsy of my Lingual tonsils, I have an appointment to see him in two weeks time.

I have felt a bit better the past few day's which is good, I tend to have a few day's every so often when I'm just feeling tired, and then I seem to be bed ridden the rest.

It sounds like you have similar symptoms, if I were you I would request a biopsy if you can, my consultant did mine because it was larger than it should of been. It's the only real way they can diagnose if it is a form of Lymphoma or not.

Keep me updated.

Best wishes Susie x
