I am so frustrated with myself today because I went otu to dinner for Mother's Day and shared a dessert with my Father and ate more than he did and I feel so miserable today.

I pray it does not rain today so I can do my walking

Hi Tired,

Know how you feel. Holidays are generally much harder than other days http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

I hope that you got to go walking, and even if you didn't, I hope that you realize that eating one dessert will not make you gain weight. Your body is capable of burning off more calories naturally, than we sometimes give it credit for.

Oh, Tired...I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. I know how horrible the aftermath of eating can be. Guilt really sucks. But you ate and that's okay. You deserve to eat and enjoy dessert every once in a while. Did eating it kill you? No! You're still alive and kicking. You didn't gain ten pounds and you won't even if you don't work out. I know it's easy for me to say 'don't worry about it' but I know you still will. (Because I'm the same way) But maybe what you can do is right some urge cards. What they are are little cards with self affirmations or goals, so that way when you feel like restricting, purging, or over-exercising you can take out these cards and think for a while. An example of a card would be...'Restricting food is restricting life.' or 'I want to be a doctor', etc. You can write them on index cards or whatever. At first they feel silly, but they really helped me a lot when I feel really guilty for eating. Good luck! Better days are coming your way.

Carlie,

The "urge cards" are such a great idea.

Good luck to everyone!
