I have been having excruciating dizzying headaches for over a year now. I finally convinced my doctor to do an MRA last Friday. This was after I've seen several neurologists, lyme doctor, heart specialist, etc. They found a 3mm aneurysm in my head. Not sure where. He wants to send me to a headache specialist that deals with atypical headaches, since I've had these for so long. We're not sure if the aneurysm is causing all of this since it is so small. My question, is can it cause problems being so small?? Most days, I feel like I'm going to pass out due the extreme lightheadedness that I have. The headaches are awful, and no matter what migraine meds I take or pain meds I take, it doesn't help. In fact when I take something, I feel like there is a boxing match going on in my head. Then the pain is more severe. I just have to lie down, and pray that it subsides. Please let me know if a small aneurysm can do any of this. Thanks

Right now,you need to see a neurosurgeon and an interventional radiologist in order to determine the next step and treatment options for your aneurysm.i am rather shocked that your doc wouldn't be doing this already.seeing a headache specialist would be a good idea but since the aneurysm is possibly a life threatening issue it would defintiely take the priority.you need to speak with your doc about seeing the people i mentioned.possibly changing to another doc besides this one would also be a good idea since he quite obviously doesn't realize the emergent nature of an aneurysm.please keep me posted,good luck,Marcia

Thank you so much for responding. I am supposed to find out Monday about going to the headache neurologist. When I go to him, I'm going to insist on going to a neurosurgeon. I'm being referred to a hospital about 3 hours away from here, since they are in the best in South Carolina. I heard that this guy was really good in treating this stuff, so hopefully I'm going to be treated soon. What really ticks me off is that I've been to three local neurologists in the past few years, and neither one of them would do an mra. It took a local family doctor to finally do one. These problems started 6 years ago, but just finally got really bad over a year ago. That's why I mentioned the year thing. I wonder if it's been there all of this time. If so maybe that means it's not going to grow. But I'm still worried about it bursting.

I went to the ER the other night because the pain in my head got really bad. He consulted with a neurosurgeon. Two days later I went to see the neurosurgeon. He looked at the mra, and said that he wasn't sure if it's an aneurysm. He asked if I wanted to have an angiogram to see what it was, and I told him yes definately. I am now scheduled to have that next week. I'm hoping that they can determine what this is now. I'm also having a lot of chest pain, and shortness of breath which makes the lightheadedness worse. I'm hoping that they will look at this at the preassesment before they do the procedure. I have a preassesment on Monday and the procedure will be done on Wednesday. I have been laying down so much due to all of this and not been active. So I hope that it's not a blood clot in the lung. It happened recently when I had to start laying around more.
