So, I finally got my progesterone results back...my level is 6.5.
What does this mean!? The nurse only left a message on my voicemail so I couldn't ask any questions. Am I not ovulating?
Somebody please help me!!!

Hi Megs ~ I looked this bit of info up for you when I saw your post. It's not much, but I'm assuming you took the test around the time you would have ovulated???? Here's what I found:
*****A progesterone test is done to confirm ovulation. When a follicle releases its egg, it becomes what is called a corpus luteum and produces progesterone. A level over 5 probably indicates some form of ovulation, but most doctors want to see a level over 10 on a natural cycle, and a level over 15 on a medicated cycle.*****
So, although 6.5 is showing you may have O'd it doesn't look like it's high enough.... My friend's numbers are low, and she has to take medication to keep hers up. I'm not sure what she's taking though.
I hope this helps a bit.

Thanks Zuzu- I did some research myself and the nurse finally called me back. They did the test on cd21. It seems as though I ovulate, but my progesterone is not high enough to sustain a pregnancy. That explains a few things I guess. Last January I had two BFP's when I was a week late (we weren't trying yet so didn't test until I realized I was very late) and then started bleeding the very next day. Then even last month I had one BFP but all the others I took were BFN. A blood test several days later was BFN and I got my AF 5 days late. I am guessing I have become pregnant on several different occassions, my body just can't sustain it. I am so miserable about it, but I guess its good to know:) What makes me mad is that the nurse wont prescribe me anything until I have completed the ENTIRE infertility work up. It will take awhile too because there are many tests to be done. I want something now so I at least have a chance next month!!!

I should also mention that charting my CP and CM indicate that I O. Plus I feel pinching O pains each month and count 14 days to determine when AF is due. It always works!

Megss -- I would guess that your body prepares to ovulate but does not release the egg. That would explain the fertile CM and the high CP around O, but the low progesterone numbers.

Thanks Goldenmom-
I just really thought forsure I was ovulating so I am completely devastated by these results. I have been crying all afternoon! At work and then to my DH when I got home! I just never really thought getting pregnant would be so difficult I guess:( I still had hope for this month too, but now all of that is gone.
How are you doing by the way??

Sorry hon, that stinks. Luckly we live in a modern day of medison. I know it seems like a pain to have them do the whole work up its probably in your best interest. They need to make sure they know EVERYTHING that is going on.
Praying for you.

Hey at least you can get pregnant right? It seems like you may need some progesterone shots to sustain a pregnancy. My friend had a couple miscarriages due to this problem and when they corrected it she got pregnant and stayed that way! Good luck!

Yes, there is definitely hope for you. I know you want to have it all corrected NOW, that's what sucks...but, there is a treatment for this, and you WILL have your baby before you know it. I'm sorry your results weren't more positive for you.
Take Care, and keep us updated on what your doctor plans to do.

I am sooo sorry to hear about your results. When I went in for my cd 21 progesterone check it was only 0.6! I wasn't ovulating at all...And I was so hopeful that I had conceived that month too. My friend had this problem...she'd ovulate but not produce enough Progesterone so they had her do supositories(sp) and that worked!! It's good to get all these tests and figure out exactly what's going on with your body so you can have a healthy pregnancy in the end. I know how hard it is to wait though....I week seems like a year when your ttc.

hi megss, sorry you got a bad result, although you can at least take the positive that it seems as though you conceive without too much difficulty and therefore with a bit of help on this specific problem you will be able to sustain a pregnancy very soon. I am so sorry that you feel down, I know as we all do the frustration from this horrible waiting game, I just hope it is your time very soon. good luck xxx

Sorry Megss:angel: I would let them do more work ups when you can get better insurance( I think you mentioned that) that way you would know for sure if there is even a problem, there might not be, gotta stay positive.
