I heard that this supplement can be used to help with depression. Does anyone have any experience with this, or know something else that can help?

Healthcliff,
Sure it has been found to be helpful. But there are other many suhc herbs and you will need to get a professional help to decide which one to use. Suggest you see your naturopath or homeopath.

I never really had much success with St Johns wort.
My favorite herb for making you calm is Valerian root.
Try that one.

I tried Valerian root for as a sleeping aid. Next morning I felt jittery although I had a good night sleep. Wasn't really sure if the Valerian root had caused the problem so tried it again, next morning I felt even worse. I have heard a lot of good reports about both sleeping and calming effects but I wont be taking it again.

My daughter is taking St Johns wort along with a B complex vitamin. she says she feels it is starting to help her with her depression. It might be worth your while trying it but make sure to check with the Doctor first. Especialy if you are taking any other medications.

I tried it but I didn't notice anything. I stopped taking it because it has side effects and it interacts with some prescription. I didn't want to risk having side effects so i stopped it.
Working out doing cardio everyday to pep yourself up is an alternate help as well.
Unless you want to get prescriptions which actual helps a lot if you are having some bad depression.
I didnt want to be dependt on it but my doctor mention it as an option.

I also read that SJW has another side efect and should not be taken for people with LUPUs or skin problems , because it makes your skin more susecptible to sun
