I am taking 1mg of estradiol in the morning and 1mg at night. I had my TAH/BSO on Aug. 21st.

I feel fine physically, but mentally I am so depressed. I have never felt this bad in my life.

Could the estrogen be causing the depression? I've read the Too Much/Too Little sheet already. From what I see, it looks like I'm in the Too Little Estrogen list. But going up to 3mg a day seems exessive, even for someone who is only 38.

I can't take any of the SSRIs because they cause terrible bladder problems.

Don't tell me "it's still early in your recovery" either. If I feel great physically, why do I want to die?

I wish I could take Lexapro or Prozac or Zoloft - they help my moods - but I can't take the awful side effects.

Is it the estrogen? What am I supposed to do? I'm beginning to regret my hysterectomy!

I just recently had a TAH in September. I also told my doctor at my 6 week follow up that I too was feeling depressed, could not focus and "no get up and go". She said that because since I no longer have periods the blood flow to the ovaries also decreases which also causes the ovaries to not release as much estrogen. So she told me to wait one more month and if it does not get better then I may also have to have some estrogen. So maybe you need to have a stronger dosage. Let me know how it goes for you as so will I. Good Luck and God Bless.
