I get enough sleep, infact I get more than enough!

I will go to bed at a proper time at night and get up at a normal time, for school.

I find that, I am okay during school but eventually will start to feel a bit tired. When I come home I will get into bed and sleep for up to about 4 hours, I could sleep more if i wanted but I need to get up to do homework etc I would gladly miss dinner etc for sleeping (naps)
Even If I have been out shopping for only about an hour or less, I would come home and could get into bed and sleep no problem.

Is this any kind of disorder? How I can sleep so much? Somedays I won't have any naps but if given the chance I could sleep for hours in the afternoon, as well as that night.

I am on antidepressants which causes sleepiness, but I found this happening even before I was on them, I am getting weaned of them now because I am feeling a lot better :)-

I'm just a newbie to all this sleep disorder stuff but I can tell you from my own experiences it does sound like your not getting good quality sleep while you are sleeping or you wouldn't be so tired. You should probably talk to a doctor about it. Good luck and FYI....school could put me to sleep too :D

Alow your self only a 20 minute nap after school (set your alarm clock), then force your self to go for a brisk walk or bike ride for half an hour.

Take a multivitamin with iron (eg Centrum) every day with food.

Distant,

Check into Sleep Apnea. Do you snore? Are you overweight? Does your neck size exceed 14.5 inches? If you do with your other symptoms I would consider consulting a sleep doctor for testing.

My husband exhibited very similar symptoms to yours, he also had a deviated septum and bad snoring.

His sleep evaluation showed that he had mild-moderate sleep apnea, with a side condition I can not spell. Now he is on a CPAP machine and he only needs 8 hours of sleep a day.

I have severe sleep apnea, and have had surgery and still need my CPAP; but, that CPAP makes all the difference in your quality of sleep. I actualy reach REM with it.

Best of luck findind a solution.
Sincerely,
MG

It could be sleep apnea or it could be idiopathic hypersomnia. I encourage you to seek medical advice regarding this. You may need a sleep study.
