Hi, I'm 21 years old and have been having a lot of different symptoms and I was wondering if these are symptoms associated with MS..I have not been diagnosed with MS..I just worry my symptoms point to this...ok, first I am a lot of joint and muscle pain and stiffness, I get pain everywhere, like right now my back and neck are sore and stiff. I get a lot of muscle spasms, usually in my lower back, calves and toes. I also sometimes get a severe pain in my neck (the upper neck area, kind of near my jaw), and the neck muscles get tight and it hurts so bad. I also notice that I have some involuntary twitching and movement of my head, it's slight but I notice it..I also sometime notice that with my legs/feet. I get really bad lower back pain all the time, and the pain travels down my buttock. I also get really sharp pain in my heels when I walk. What else, I have hip/groin pain all the time. I experience some numbness but it is usually only on my fingertips and my toes. I get headaches, usually once a week, sometimes they are severe. I also have blurry vision and my eyes are almost always sore. also, I don't know if this is important, but I am very clumsy, I drop things all the time, I stumble and almost fall.I also feel like my muscles are really weak a lot of the time...I was just wondering if these could be symptoms of MS, I know that you are not Dr and can't give me a diagnosis, but if you have MS maybe you can tell me if you have similar problems....I have no family history of this...I have been to the DR and have only had x-rays and they didn't find anything on them. The ortho docs is who I have seen for my pain, and they basically tell me its in my head. It is not..I am having pain...also, I noticed that I have chest pain and tightness occassionally..I was diagnosed woth costocondritis a year ago when that first started, but it hasn't stopped yet....

Thank you for readind this...I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Definitely sounds like it COULD be MS, but it also sounds like alot of other things too. Alot of neurologists will say that MS isn't a painful disease - of course, those who have it know that's not always so, it can be very painful sometimes.

The numbness, clumsiness, etc. - that sounds very MS like.

Best best - get to a neuro and get checked out. Good luck to you - MS isn't the end of the world these days, lots of drugs to treat it. :)

Streetangel,

Your symptoms are comparible with MS,but keep in mind there are several disorders that mimic MS.With the pain you describe you really need to push your DRs in to doing further research in to the cause.Your to young to be experiencing this.Do they have you on any meds for the spasms.
If your current Dr. isn't addressing your symptoms maybe a new Doc is in order.
Keep a journal of your symptoms and what causes them to flair up this will help your DR and you.

Thank you for responding to my post. I am going to make an apointment very soon to see my Dr...it worries me that MS is possible, I hope that is not what it is, it scares me. I keep telling myself that it could be something else. It's just i look at these websites with the signs and symptoms and I have so many that they list. Thank you for wishing me luck...This is a wonderful place, I am glad I found it. If it does turn out that I have this, I know I can come here and chat with people who have it too. Thank you.

I was reading through this, and I noticed I left some things out. I read that people with MS can have vision problems...but I am not sure what kind of problems, like I have blurry vision sometimes, but also occasionally, I see black spots, big spots and sometimes when I am reading the spots cover up some words, if that makes sense...
Also, I read that RLS is associated with MS, is that true? I have had a problem with that for a while. I also have very intsense itching, mainly on my legs, but I also get itchy, tingling spots all over my body.

Ok..I thought this was weird and I don't really know how to explain it..but sometimes when I am laying in bed or sitting relaxing, it almost feels like my legs disapear, I don't know how to describe it, I don't really lose feeling, but I have to look at my legs and tell myself to move them to make sure they still work...they feel heavy and like they are not there...it is such a weird feeling and so hard to put into words...does this sound like anything any of you experience?

Hi, one of your symptoms does sound like something I have, only I don't knoww if black spots or not. The way I describe it, is like I have looked at the sun a long time, then try to go back and read some type, and there are holes in the type, or spots I don't see. Does that sound like what you are experiencing? I don't know about the leg thing. But I was just diagnosed with MS, after almost 2 years, because it is so hard to diagnose.

Yes...that sounds exactly like what I am experiencing...yeah like I looking at the sun or a bright light for a while and then there are parts of words I can't read
