What is the consensus on the value of this drug?

Australia has placed very tight restrictions on the sale of pseudoephedrine, so if you want a decongestant, 10mg phenylephrine is it.

i have found it somewhat less efective than regular Sudafed in the 10mg dose, and am wondering if taking 15mg (1 1/2 tablets) would be safe and more effective?

The PE derivative has approximately 30% the metabolic absorption rate as the original psuedophed. So I still opt for the psuedophed over the PE version, because I would have to take 3 times as much to get the same relief. The metabolic absorption rate data is clinically documented.

Maximum dosage of psuedophedrine allowed via prescription per day is 180 mg. Check with a pharmacist as to what the maximum dosage of the PE version.
