Hi everyone! Just a short intro -

Went in on 7/06 to have annual Pap. My daughter became ill in January and then in May I took a leave from working so I could focus greatly on her appointments, etc. And because of not working, I had no insurance on myself when the need for my annual came along. I hadn't anticipated anything other than the "normal norm" with my Pap smear, but, as mentioned above, my results came back CIS. I have been back to work since August but my insurance just became effective 10/1. I have a colposcopy tomorrow and am, quite frankly, frazzled from confusion, fear and overwhelmment of the unknown. I fear there has been progression. Anyone have any words of encouragement? Advice? Thanks - I look forward to helpful replies ;)

Well, my doctor seems to think that these things generally move very slowly, so you're probably still in the same boat you were when you got the initial report. It's worth knowing that even with CIS, only a certain amout of the time (I want to say half, but it may be more like 33%) does it turn into cancer. It's not something you want to play with--get it out asap--but it is not inevitable that it will become invasive cancer even if you didn't ever treat it. (Read the thread about halfway down the page titled "Cervical Carcinoma in Situ" that I started a few weeks ago. Several women chimed in with some great info!)

All that to say, try not to worry, but DO follow through with the advice of your doc and get a LEEP or CKC (Cold knife cone).
