I just started my 2nd month of Zoloft (the generic form, 50 mg) and I'm still experiencing diarrhea and other strange bowel movements......I guess it's what is called "loose stools?" Some days I'm fine, some days it's diarrhea, some days it's just lightly-colored, really soft, and broken up. Sorry to be so graphic!

This has never happened to me except for when I was on Lexapro. I only took it for a month, got tired of the diarrhea and quit. Should I just tough it out a bit longer with Zoloft? Naturally, since I'm a worrier, I'm a bit concerned "what if it's something else?"

I'd just like to know if these kinds of bowel problems are to be expected sometimes with SSRI's.

I'm in my third week of Zoloft at 50mg, generic, and I'm having similar issues. I am having diarrhea first thing in the morning for about a week now and the last two days I've had it once in the middle of the day too.
I do believe it's the medicine that's causing it so I wouldn't worry that it is some seperate condition. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the generic Zoloft. I've been on regular Zoloft in the past and don't remember having this problem at all. With the regular Zoloft I also had a healthy appetite but with the generic Zoloft I've lost my appetite.
One thing you can try doing is taking half the pill in the morning and half at night. That's what I'm doing now. I think if this doesn't work, I'm just going to go back to just taking 25mg a day.
I've had this anxiety disorder for the past ten years now and have learn to somewhat deal with it without medication. I had a lot of stress this past month which caused me to lose control of it. I feel like I just need a little bit of help to overcome this recent surge of anxiety so I'm really thinking about coming back down to 25mg a day.

Well that's interesting...I guess it is just the Zoloft then. I was ok yesterday....loose stools a few times....and then this morning I had diarrhea 4 times within an hour. That can't be healthy. I'm just going to quit the pills altogether, I can't take this!

my mom went on Zoloft (brand name), she and I both have had nothing but trouble any time we tried to switch to a generic. So we don't even consider them anymore.

Anyway, she was given a 50mg to start and then after 2 weeks she was to increase to 100mg. She has had no bowel problems at all, but did have alittle bit of the qweezies for a few days while adjusting.

I always thought generics were supposed to be the same as the regular, but I guess not. I've been taking generic birth control pills with no problems, but that's a totally different type of pill. Anyway, I've been better today...a somewhat normal bowel movement this morning. Hopefully the medication is out of my system and I'm back to normal now. I'm still going back to see my doctor next month so I'm going to explain to him the problems I've had and see if he can recommend a different medication. If not, guess I'm just stuck with this anxiety!
