I'd love to hear what the experts have to say on eating disorders, and what you thought of the experts. Just tonight, I bought "Binge Breaker: Stop Out of Control Eating and Lose Weight" by Dr. Peter M. Miller.
I'll let you know when I finish it.
And hey, if this thread doesn't work, I can always recommend some Michael Ondaatje.

This week I bought The Idiot's Guide to Total Nutrition, from the famed Idiot's series. This book has information on every dietary compound you could ask for, info on being pregnant and nursing, different types of vegetarian diets, and yes, even exercise. and I'm looking forward to starting it. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Also on my reading list is Binge Breaker! - How to Stop Out of Control Eating and Lose Weight by Dr. Peter M. Miller.
I'll let everyone know how they are soon.

The most compelling and heart wrenching book on about ed's i've ever read is called, WASTED, by Marya Hornbacher. It's an autobiography about her life long struggle with anorexia and bulimia and it is most scary, hardcore memoir i've ever read, most of the book doesnt really reflect my experience w. anorexia or bulimia because this woman takes it to a new level, which is completely over the edge. I would'nt recommend it to anyone who is depressed and feeling hopeless because it's not the typical woman conquers her battle book, it's actually quite disheartening, but very very interesting.

Wasted is one of my favorite books and the author, Marya Hornbacher, has an excellent writing style. I would definitely suggest this book as a great read but it is also very very triggering. I used to read it over and over when I was at my lowest low of anorexia...so beware.

I love to read biography's of ED people. I agree Wasted was excellent. Recently I have read Angel Mommy about a bulimic girl going through pregnancies and other things as well, it is short and worth reading whether you a mom or not. My name is Caroline is another and I'm currently reading one called Good Enough, Losing is Winning, very good book and also makes one want to get better.

I actually found "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Nutrition" a little more helpful than "Binge Breaker". The latter included many principles of cognitive behavioural therapy, and I already have some background with it. But coming from a fairly meat and potatoes family, where junk food makes up 2 or 3 food groups alone, it was very helpful to see a total nutritional breakdown of some very common foods. It helps put my mind at ease just knowing what's good for me and why. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Best wishes.
