I'm 21, and found a lump in my scrotum a little while ago. I know this could be very bad, and I should have gone to the doctor a while ago, but I'm absolutely terrified to do so. I have an anxiety problem, and in general I hate being anywhere near a doctor...but more specifically I don't want a doctor anywhere near that. I hope to be able to go soon, but first I want to know more of what might happen.
First of all, what I've found is about like a BB, and seems to be attached to the vein of the left testical. (no pain or other symptoms of anything) What I want to know is what sort of horrible things is a doctor going to do to determine what this lump is? Do I automatically have to go get an ultrasound at least to diagnose it? What are the chances that I would need a biopsy?
Also, I read something earlier about shining a light through the lump. If light comes through then it's full of fluid, and not cancerous cells. Is this very accurate, and something the doctor might try? I did myself and it appears translucent. Is that a good sign...or meaningless?
