I take .5 mil xanax twice per day and one at night. It works great. I know I am out of shape physically and I am beginning to excercise. My question is: Anyone out there taking xanax ever experience breathing problems from physical exertion (moderate) or I am just that badly out of shape? Thanks.

Never heard of that effect but everyone is different. Did you have the breathing problems with exercise before xanax? Could be your level of fitness. Are you gasping or wheezing? Can't get enough oxygen so you feel lightheaded? You may want to talk to your doctor and maybe start out slowly with your exercise regimen until you build up tolerance. The more you do the easier it gets! I walk, right now about 3 mph which isn't super fast but it gets my heart rate up. After a while I'll try 4mph and start strength training. I'm even thinking of water aerobics at the YWCA.

Take Care,
Tori

I have been taking Xanax for a few months now and have actually started working out about 1.5 months ago. I was just really out of shape. No need to worry, the more you workout the better it gets, so keep exercising and you'll be fine. Like I said, it has been a month and a half and I am still having breathing issues, but it is because I am really pushing myself everytime I go to the gym. Good luck. And keep working out. It will really help your anxiety in the long run.

Later.

Thank you for the responses. I will keep working out. God Bless.

Xanax and Ativan have both worked for me. Breathing actually gets better when I take them. If you have not been working out for a long time, this is perfectly normal and soon you will be back in shape :)
