Hi all. I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow about my meds. I have been trying cymbalta for my anxiety/panic disorder. It is okay, but it makes me sooo tired every afternoon. The one think I like about it so much is that it doesn't make me hungry. I would like to try lexapro again, as it worked before for me. I had to stop because it was making me itch really bad, but I'm willing to try it again it it's okay with my dr. I just don't want the awful weight gain I read about. Almost every site I go to has people complaining about the weight gain. I hardly ever read where people have taken it for any length of time and didn't gain any weight. Is it worth trying it again?

I'm just starting my third go around with Lexapro. It has worked well on my anxiety without any unbearable side effects. I'd like to give you some advice on the weight gain but that's been somewhat of a problem for me most of my life. I'd like to use the Lexapro for an excuse but I had the problem before Lexapro came along. I will say that I don't believe it has gotten any worse. I've recently lost 16 pounds, we'll see if I can keep it off now that I'm back on Lexapro.

Yea, we can't always blame the meds. I can handle it if the weight gain is something that can be controlled through exercise and eating right. But most of these posts say the weight came on anyway. I had that problem with zoloft. The extra weight came on before I realized what was happening. I know a lot of people take wellbutrin with the lex, but I'd like to stick to one ad, if possible.

Hi Kelly, how you doing? I haven't been on for a while, I started a new job in real estate so I am not bored in front of a computer all day anymore, thank God! I have been off all meds for a little over a month now (except Xanax still as needed). Lexapro worked very well for me but unfortunately I did gain weight on it and couold not for the life of me lose it. I stopped taking my birth control pills and Lexapro and I am on a diet. I've finally lost a whopping two pounds, but it is hard.
I feel pretty good anxiety wise. I really thought I would seriously relapse, but so far so good. My dr prescribed Wellbutrin with Lex to see if that would help with weight and sex drive, but I didn't notice a difference. Also, like you, I didn't really want to be on two meds at a time.

Hey mjewell! That is so good you are off all meds and in real estate too! I am glad the anxiety hasn't come back for you. I think I could make it on xanax only, but I need something extra to get me through these teenage years with my kids. My daughter just started driving, so it will get even more interesting for me. As you can see, I'm still going from one ad to the other trying to find something to work. If I'd just take one and stay on it a few months or so, then maybe I'd be okay, like you did. I do read mostly about weight gain with lexapro, but then there are the few who don't seem to gain. The lucky ones I guess! Hang in there! 2 pounds lost is better than gained! Is your doctor okay with you taking the xanax only? Will he keep prescribing it if you only take it as needed?

To behonest, i never even go to the doctor anymore. I got fed up with them not checking up on me, prescribing me stuff and then never hearing fmo them again - I don't feel like they even care, so i am just doing my own thing. It's sad I have to take matters into myown hands, but that's the way it goes.
I have a dr who will prescribe me Xanax for the rest of my life, and i haven't seen him in over a year. pretty sad.
