I have had a sore throat for a month now. I went to an ENT he did the scope down my throat said it was red and swollen and could be reflux or allergies. I never had a problem with reflux before but i figured I would try the meds, no difference. Well a week later I still had a sore throat so I went to another doc and tested positive for strep. I have been on antibiotics for 5 days now, and although my throat isn't as red it still is sore. I went back to the doc today and they tested for mono came back neg. and did another strep test, and cbc all came back normal. Doc said if strep came back neg. this time then meds are working, if i still have sore throat in 5 days when meds are gone go back.
I am kind of freaked out, I mean I have had a sore throat for over a month. People I have talked to say that usually even though the redness may take a couple of weeks to completly go away usually the sore throat is gone within days. Mine is still there. I am a smoker so could it be taking longer because I smoke? I have noticed that in the back of my throat I have little blitster looking things in there. They have been there a couple of weeks is that part of the strep?
Am I being paranoid or do I have something else wrong?
