I hope I'm asking on the right board. I know its called Hardening of the Arteries, so I figure members who know about strokes would also have some knowledge of arteries.
I had a regualr chest Xray, having no problems, just a standard check up (cuz I smoke and I'm 59½).
I picked up the results and it mentions that Arteriosclerosis is present as well as Hilar Calcifications. And some other things that I don't need to ask questions about.
Went to my Dr to discuss results and Dr was called away for emergency so I did not get to see her and discuss this!
Neither Arteriosclerosis or Hilar Calcifications have ever showed up on any of my reports before so I am quite concerned.
The info I've found on the web seems very general and doesn't tell me what to do really.
I can't really find much of any info about Hilar Calcifications, and I found Arteriosclerosis is hardening of the arteries but not how to fix it or really what to do to help myself heal.
How do I control these 2 problems?
I don't have high blood pressure (was 130/80 when nurse did it but Dr was not there. I've never had high as 130 before but Nurse said it's fine.),
I'm not a diabetic.
Total Cholestrol is 200 (YES I have now started eating my oats!).
It goes without saying that the world will say quit smoking,
but other than that can anyone give me any idea of what to do about these 2 things?
