I might be reading too much but my father had a chest x-ray yesturday and he has a spot on his lung. They are ordering a CT and I'm scared. In 2004; he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. It was Clarks level IV but his nodes were clear; so they didn't radiate or treat with chemo. He is very stubborn when it comes to going to the doctor and when he does go; he doesn't always tell the doctor the "whole" truth. I'm very concerned now; what do you think his chances are that the melanoma has spread to his lungs. He quit smoking in 2001 but was a heavy smoker.

Well, I don't have any answers to your questions but just wanted to offer my support. I hope the spot is just that, a spot. Good luck.

My dad is 83 and has been a heavy smoker all his life. In fact he'll still steal them off people if given a chance. He's always had a spot on one of his lungs but that's all that it ever was.
