View Full Version : Therapy path post RP and radiation

I opted for surgery in 2005 given a PSA of 4.2, a Gleeson of 3+4 and an estimate of 15% in both sides. Post op results confirmed the preop estimates, with no evidence of PC on the surfaces, or any surrounding tissues and lympnodes. Extremely pleased and releaved but recurring PSA of 0.6 a year later popped up which led me to have radiation of the surgerical area. Three months later my current PSA is 1.1.
The question now is what course to take. The most aggressive track would be to combine hormone and taxotere treatment -- does anyone have any experience with this therapy? Another therapy course is enhancing the immune system through nutrician and or vaccines -- does anyone have any experience with this therapy?

Thanx in advance

A friend diagnosed with advanced cancer to his bones has used hormones for the past year. He decided to use "eligard" and has done well with few side effects, probably due to staying active and improving his lifestyle.

He posted his details on the website www.yananow.net
The site has experiences from many who have used various treatments: look under mentors experiences. They can no doubt answer specific questions in detail.

Newsletters worth looking at include Johns Hopkins Autumn 2005 issue which has information and charts in the article "If PC comes back who needs agressive treatment?" www.urology.jhu.edu/newsletter

www.paactusa.com also have some good information in their newsletters.

Dr Pfeifer claims good results with a less agressive protocol which had a recent trial in London. Have not seen detailed results of it as yet.
