I was on Lorazepam for about 2 years. I felt so bad while I was on it but I became addicted. In MArch of 2006 I decided to taper off it slowly, I got down to a dose of 1/16 3 times a day when I quit taking it. It has been a month. The first week was the hardest, but slowly I THINK I am getting better. My question is...Is this normal to be off lorazepam and still feel jittery and nervous even after a month?. I am sleeping fine and I eat good, but It is the nervousness that is so irritating. I am only 24 and I want to get on with my life. Does anyone know how long this could last?

Hi there,
I think from what I've read that might be pretty normal to take awhile to get the anxiety thing completely out. I don't know from experience, but have been reading about anti-anxiety meds bcuz I have been taking xanax for WD anxiety. I am very nervous to get hooked on it. That is great that you can sleep! I think that seems like a huge step out of the addiction, right?
Have you tried any natural aids like kava kava or exercise/yoga/massage?
I swear during this WD from Ultram those times have been the only times I have NOT felt anxious. You are young and I SO commend you for taking steps to be drugfree and happy! WTG!
Can I ask you why you felt bad while on it?

SOmewhat. I would just like, not be hungry and my stomach would hurt, I would be nervous, then I would take the lorazapam and all that would suddenly stop.

wow that is awful. It's like some of these drugs keep us stuck w/them for the same reason we needed them...only we always seem to need more! Hey you might try the anxiety board as someone suggested to me here. I have gotten some good info over there.

Jndls:
I was taking Klonopin and had the same problem with the persistant, unnecessary anxiety afterwards. I've just been having to push myself hard and I believe, from what I have read about the Benzos is that when your on them for quite a long time, or at a heavy dose, it will take time for your body to heal. Just stick in there, and it will get better. Try eating healthy, exercise, anything that might promote natural anti-anxiety effects.

How long have you been off of Klonopin?
