Hi there,
I have seen Coenzyme Q10 mentioned in conection with PD as a neuroprotective supplement, and an energy booster. I bought some from my chemists yesterday, but they are only 10mg tablets, which can be taken twice/day. Is this enough to make a difference? Are they compatable with Requip, and who has tried them with or without sucess. My biggest frustration with pd apart from the obvious, is the total lack of energy especially at end of dose stage , my brain wants to do things, but my body feels totally exhausted. If anyone can shed any light on this subject I would be very gratefull.
Thanks
Jill

Jill I too have heard about the use of Q10, but have'nt done much research with it's roll in PD, I took it when I first started my low carb Diet plan 4 years ago. I'll try to find out more about it, I always worry about the interaction with the drugs and hubby is taking so many pills per day already, but I'am curious.

My father takes coenzyme q10 at 1200mg per day. His Dr said the studies had postive results in slowing the progression of parkinsons. He is using the vitaline chewable wafer, which is what the Dr recommended.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Kathy and sjvgb for your replies, i will be seeing my GP tomorrow and will get her advise to see if CQ10 is compatible with Requip, if it is then i'll give it a go!
Thanks again

Google coenzyme Q10 for info on 1200mg daily study. supposedly further study of larger amounts in progress. APDA mentioned coQ10 favorably.
my neuro said ok if i dont mind the expense. Using most bio-available Q-Gels cost can be no more than $2 daily for l200 equivalent. Creatine is the only supplement i've seen APDA recommend, more than coQ10.
creatine is inexpensive, used by body builders for muscles. i take both.
