How many of you who have/had cancer had any symptoms before hand? And how did you find out. Was it thru the annual exam or were you sick? Thanks

Mine was found simply through an annual pap. I felt fine with no symptoms. Not sure about everyone else?

You sound frightened. I'm sorry. What kind of illness are you worried that you have? What are your symptoms now? How long has it been since your last exam?

I just had my pap test last Wednesday first time in 5 years. All my others have always been normal. My doctor thought during my exam she felt fibroids so I had a pelvic ultrasound with internal today. Of course they couldnt tell me anything but I was watching the screen and they measure four different size masses largest being 4 cm. Im hoping they are just fibroids. Im just really scared about the pap. Im not having any symptoms just worried because I had waited so long to get my annual. I know very stupid of me and irresponsible. I am 38 years old as of tomorrow. I just had part of my thyroid removed two weeks ago because of a nodule and that came back benign. And I also had my mammogram about 4 weeks ago and that was normal. After the thyroid scare I just decided to get everything checked out. The pap is the last and I hate waiting. I just want to know. Ive read so many posts that people have waited years and then its bad news . I just wish I never stopped having them done. Im telling everyone now to get theirs done. I know some people who have gone longer than me and Im on their cases now. How common is cervical/uterine/ovarion cancer in someone my age who has had regular normal paps in the past. UGHHHHHHH Im so stupid for not keeping up.

Wow, you've had so much to deal with in the past few weeks. I know when I've had so many tests done in such a short period of time, I'm mentally exhausted. I had the similar thyroid issues, but I had a cat scan to make sure before they scheduled surgery. Mine turned out to be normal, just watch and wait. I've also had a prophylactic double mastectomy when I was 29. A lot of breast cancer in my extended and close family. I started having mammos when I was 23. I've had reconstructive, but as my 9yr old says, I just look like Barbie...bumps with nothing else. I totally remember the squishing of body parts during those x-rays, I'm sorry for your chestal area...It hurt me. Anyway, I had so many lumps removed (11 total) that they couldn't see clearly anymore. I didn't wait as long as you for your pap...only 2 years. I had my last one after my daughter was born. I have been dealing with epilepsy and getting my meds correct that I forgot about my other body parts. I've had symptoms that have been getting worse for over 6 months now. I don't believe it has anything to do with my cervice. Mine is with the other female organs...what joy. I know I have been kicking my own *** for waiting so long. I feel stupid and I feel like if I had been better to myself that this wouldn't be happening....the worrying, the waiting, the pain. Don't beat yourself up so bad. I know some women that have gone diligently every year and still had bad news. My husband says it's a crap shoot...even if you take overly good care of your body, things still happen. It doesn't matter how old you are. You are a person, not a statistic. I know that I can't tell you not to worry. But, results take a long time to get, bad or good. Give yourself a break...rent a girly flick, eat lots of cake, etc and deal with it when you get the results. Hold your head up even if your mouth is covered with frosting and know that you can handle anything. We are all stronger than we realize. I'm sorry this is so long, I just wanted you to know that you weren't alone. Even with all that is going on, celebrate on your birthday, any day is a good day for cake and smiling.

Thank you for your reply. I will enjoy my bday tomorrow and try not to think of what the results are. THen wednesday I will call my doctor to see if the results are in. The doctor who did my test today said Wednesday at the latest I should know. I swear with all the technology and stuff you would think they would get instant results. Patience is not one of my stronger points. It just feels like life is on hold until I know everything. It is out of my hands now and I just pray to God constantly for good results. I will keep you posted. Thank you.
