I Am 52, Just Had My First Abnormal Pap. Colposcopy Showed High Grade Lesion On Biopsy Of The Suspicious Spot She Found. And "just" Dysplasia On Endocercical. I Am Waiting To Find Out When My Leep Will Be. Freaking Out Because I Am A Nurse And Know Too Much, Have A Strong Family History Of Cancer, Had Thyroid Cancer 2 Years Ago...even Tho I Know None Of Those Factors Matter With Cervical Cancer. Did You All Have Clear Margins With Your Leep Procedures??

I had my LEEP about 5 weeks ago. The margins were not clear and on December 1st I'm going back in for the cold knife cone procedure. I was really worried for awhile, but it's faded. Part of the reason is that the process itself for having the cervix cut and then cauterized forces new cellular regrowth, and that can help rid the remaining dysplasya (a gyn/onc told me that). Also, another reason that margins can come back unclear is that in the process of cauterizing the cervix, they burn the surface and that can burn off dysplastic cells still left behind.

I'm going for the CKC because my GYN wants to be aggressive. So do I (within certain limits), but for now I don't have much fear that it will get worse. It sucks, but it was caught early enough, and I'm sure my poor cervix will be back to itself in no time!

Try not to worry. Eat healthy. Take vitemins. Let us know, ok?

I just had my LEEP a little over a week ago. I am having discharge but nothing else really. I am so scared that I will go back in 3 weeks and it not be better. I don't know if I can go through another Coloposcopy, LEEP, or anything else. I keep reading good success stories and then not so good stories. Maybe me reading these isn't the best thing to do if your a hypochondriac like myself! ;-)

I too am going in for my first leep procedure soon. Not sure when yet and am extremely nervous... but the thought process that is keeping me sane is head down keep moving and sooner or later all of this will have to come to a head. Just have to be aggressive with it and not ignore the problem. The main things Im worried about (and these may seem superficial) are the price of the procedure and how long afterward should I use a condom with my very exclusive long term boyfriend after the procedure. I have insurence with the military but was just wondering for comparison what some of you paid and also what your doctors told you about sex after the procedure.
