View Full Version : For people on Suboxone

Hello my people.

I was in an accident got addicted to Norco, you know the usual story. Been on like 10-10 mg pills a day, for about 6 years. Tried to come off myself, had the horrible wd's couldn't get to work, couldn't do anything, all of that. You know.

But finally I found a doctor to perscribe suboxone. I couldn't believe it, when I went into full wd, I took my dose, and within and hour, I was ready to go to work, had lots of energy, and had to wait till I could go to work. First couple days were actually the best of it. I've been taking it for 3 weeks, for the last couple weeks, I've been feeling so nervous, and restless, and I cannot stop smoking, cig, after cig, after cig. I wasn't even that big a smoker before this, and when I went cold turkey, I never felt these wd's symptoms. So it has to be the sub. Has anyone else felt like this. Granted, I'll take these wd's over the non medicated ones any day of the week, but now I think i'm killing myself with smokes, but its an unbelievable urge. Dr, isn't very responsive to my questions. just kind of gave me a couple scripts and sent me on my way. Which is what I wanted, but I do have questions. He thinks the restlessness, and all that is part of the wd from the opiate, but the last thing I wanted to do before the sub, was smoke or put anything in my body. I would puke if I did. Its also really, really hard to sleep. The meds make me feel pretty high. He said they don't make you feel that way. I beg to differ. I doubt that doctor has ever had to come off pain medicine, you guys know how it is, they websites and doctors info, definitely is written by people who have no idea. Oh well, anyone else had these feelings? I'd like to get off this as soon as possible, was looking forward to feeling normal, which is how it was advertised.

Thanks Dave, I started out at 8mg. felt fine, then I started to feel all the nervousness, went down to 4, still the same, now I'm down to two mgs. I'm actually way under what he expected. I can't even break the pill in half it so small. Its only been 3 weeks on this crap. Id think I'd be getting used to it, not getting more messed up.

Suboxone/Subutex is a very powerful synthetic opioid that acts on the mu opiate receptors in your brain. It has a lifespan of 72 hours and a mean half elimination life of 37h as well. You're taking Suboxone that has the added ingredient of naloxone in it which has a life of 1.5 hours and Buprenorphine has the 72hrs.

Unfortunately what you're feeling is the side effects of sub. Getting off as soon as possible with tapering is your best solution by switching over to Subutex 2mg. Buprenorphine has withdrawals associated with it and they are long because of the slow dissapation of the drug from your body.

Start tapering by .50mg every 3 days and try to get down to .25mg by cutting your 2mg subutex pills with a pill cutter. When you jump- be prepared with WDs too as well for about 10 days. You will get anxiety, RLS, muscle pain, extreme lethargy, unmotiviation and insomnia. It isn't necessarily the intensity of the acute WDs but the length of the time.

Do more searches on the internet for more info. Good luck.

wow over it,

You know a lot about it. I've done some searches but never found that much information. Like I said, i've been on it 3 weeks. The doctor just gave me 90 of the 2mg pills. So thats like 3 more months. In your opinion? Do you think its better to start tapering right now? I'm in my maintenance phaze, which means to me, to keep going to that doctor so he gets paid. So do you think i'm already physically addicted to the suboxone? Do you think the Hyrdo is already completely out of my system? Thanks a lot for your knowledge. I don't trust this doctor much, but he is like the only one that takes my insurance, and he is a moron. I know that for a fact. The fact that he is a moron.

LOL Corey. Calling him a moron. I have such disrespect for a lot of those clowns. I would really look into talking to an addictionologist. I was on the subutex for a little over a week. Took it during the w/d period then immed tapered.

Yes, unfortunately the DRs who presribe it are only required to take an 8 hour class that is taught by the manufacturer of sub therefore very biased. They are told that there aren't WDs associated with sub.

You weren't on such a high dose of hydros and he prescribed way too much sub. If you tapered off the hydros, your acute WDs would have been over in 4 days but the sub WDs will linger for about 10 days if you don't taper off properly. You will get the PAWS after for awhile too. The longer you're on Sub the more you will suffer the WDs.

Yes, the hydro has dissappated from your receptors and it would be wise to start tapering now. Taper down every 3 days until you get down to .25mg. When you stabilize at the .25mg after 3 days, start skipping a day , stabiize, skip 2 days, etc . That is the best way to minimize your WDs.

Get a pill cutter and start cutting down the 2mg tablets.
