I haven't posted in a while. I had a few VERY rough days & had to spread my taper out a little bit.
Haven't been sleeping more than about 5 hours per night, but I know that this will all pass eventually. So I look like crap, but know that there is a big prize at the end of all this - no more pills. I can't wait to be free.
Now I'm down to just 1/2 of a pill (broken into 2 doses per day)..... YAHOOO!! I'm getting there, I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
I haven't seen my "Xanax Quit Buddy" Kattjo on here for a while, not sure if she's still trying to quit or not.. but if she's around, I'd love to hear from her. Even if she didn't quite stick with it yet........ it's okay! Just wanna know she's doing allright.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi & see how everyone is doing, catch up on some posts.
take care everyone. Together we can get through it all.

Hey Zoso,
You are doing great!! Way to stick with it! I think it's great you stretched it out rather than toughed it out. Way smarter than I w/the ultram taper. I think I quit a bit too soon and paid for it.
Hey I am taking about .25mg in the day and .50mg at night to sleep on average for WD. Can I ask what dose you are cutting in half?

Hi Minn,
Thanks! I really hope I can cut down again after about a week. I am cutting the .25mg pill in half. Actually it's scored so I just basically break it quite easily.

Hey,
How are you?
Not so good here. I have made a mess of things and had to find help. I think I found some good help and I am trying to get stable so I can begin cutting again.
That devil had a hold of me. I had cut my dose in 1/2 of course and went thru....well you know, lol
I actually had to reinstate my dose a bit and I am going to do a water titration. I hope it works. I completely became non functional and I have 2 kids to take care of. So I am going to do a slow steady taper. I am at .75mg of X and holding till I get stable. At least I did not reinstate back to 1mg....
Good luck to you, you are almost there. Take it slow, take your time.

Hey I'm so glad to hear from you, I was wondering how you were doing & maybe a teensy bit worried (that's just my nature :p
I'm sorry things got so bad for you. Yeah, maybe you were just cutting back too much, too quickly. Take it as slow as you need.... wait until you feel reasonably OK to cut again.
Believe me, my little "Schedule" was to cut every 7 days, and that just isn't going to work now that I'm down to small amounts. I stuck to my last dose for 14 days... and this one now, well - going to just play it by ear til I'm ready.
This is not going to be easy... but we can try to make ourselves as comfortable as possible by taking it nice & slow.
Yeah, it sucks. I know. Believe me, I understand!
Take care, and good luck. I'm trying to logon every day... though I had to go back to my job on Monday so that's less time for me. At least my doctor is letting me work 1/2 days - mornings, when the WD's aren't at their worst.
So I hope to still see you around! Hugs to you....

I hope things are going well for you, you are almost there. Just remember, it is not a race, something i had to learn the hard way.
Heck I had to learn alot the hard way.
I hope your w/d are managable.
Did you get your tests done for your heart?
Everything ok?
Good luck to you,
Katt

Hi Katt,
Sorry, I haven't been on in a few days, I've had a nasty cold/sore throat thing going on. Ugh!
The heart test came back normal - of course. So, still no explanation for the arrythimia & chest pains. They want me to start a beta blocker to see if it will help - I'll try anything!
I'm down to 1/4 of a xanax. The wd's seem to be very minor at this point. Not sure if its because I'm so sick or if the worst is really over.... believe me, I'm hoping!
So things are not going well for you? Hmmm... maybe it would be a good idea to get some help with this. I've heard that docs can prescribe other meds (i.e., valium) to help with Xanax wd's if they are really bad.
It sounds like it might be what you need - or at least something to help get you through the worst parts.
I wish things were going better for you, and I wish I could help you in some way! I know how hard it is. All I can really say is, the beginning was definitely the worst part. I didnt' want to stick to the taper so many times - but now it's alot easier.. at least for me.
Take care Katt, let me know how you are doing & if you think I can help in any way. Hugs to you!!!

Oh I so hope the worst is over for you!
I am going to try and find a doc to do a crossover to the valium, after doing a rapid withdrawal and going into ct heck, I am too afraid to try and cut now.
Besides I am so unstable on it anyway.
I hope I can find a doc to help me.
Get better soon,
Katt

Hi Katt,
Good luck, I really hope you find a good doc to work with asap.
Thanks for the well wishes. I ended up going to the ER cuz I am worried I have strep & couldn't take the pain anymore. They don't think its strep but did a culture so I'll find out in 48 hours.
I was going to try & not take any X today, but ended up taking my little 1/4 of a pill. It's only day 3 at that amount, so I guess I'll just go ahead & take it for about 7-14 days. Then it's OVER. NO MORE!!! I am nervous but so happy about it at the same time.
Tomorrow is Monday & I have to go to work even though I'm sick :( At least it's only 4 hours.
Take care my friend - I'm rooting for ya over here!

I know how hard getting off Xanax could be because I did it. I was lucky, and my clinic was using Depakote, an anti-seizure drug, on its patients to ease the withdrawl symptoms. The depakote worked and I had a miraculously easy withdrawl after many failed attempts to do it on my own.

Hi Maxibear,
I've heard of that before, I'm so glad it worked for you. That's something that I don't think is widely "advertised" to help with wd's so it's good to have that info posted here.

Hey, thanks Kim! I appreciate that
After going through this, and having a doctor who freely gave me Xanax because "the amount I was taking didn't worry her" and "You shouldn't suffer, if you need it, take it".... oy vey. I'm going to be very anti-xanax from now on!!
