had an ekg this morning and the drs report stated: st-t change in septal lead , sinus ryhthm, and border abnormal myocardial ischema. i have an appt wed with the cardiologist but ive been getting chest pain and shoulder pain the last 3 months and this just makes me feel worse now. how bad is this? soemone told me it could mean lack of blood to the heart. i was just in the er 2 days ago and they sd my ekg was normal, but my dr sd it showed the same lead change 4 yrs ago in my ekg? i guess i just wait here to have a heart attack i feel like a walking timebomb

why didnt they admit me if its that bad

An EKG is not very reliable for a definite diagnosis. Electric conduction and pathways can be influenced by medication, diet, a faster than normal heartbeat, deficiencies or high levels of calcium, potassium, sodium, etc. may not be conducive for measuring the time and volts of the signal. The measurements are in milli seconds and milli volts potential so it really doesn't take very much to obscure a good signal and output an abnormal result.

It appears the timing of the signal through an area of the heart is a little slow, and it may contributed to ischemia (lack of blood/oxygen to the area in question). If ischemia, blocked or partially blocked coronary artery/arteries, is present that would explain the chest pain (angina). Before there is a final dx of ischemia, the dr. will want a stress test.

ive been getting shoulder and chest pains for a while which would explain this but ive had ekgs all the time and never was told of this. i actually was in the er tuesday morning and they sd my ekg was normal. they checked my enzymes and sd it was normal. ive been taking 4 asprin a day bc im scared of having a heart attack. i wanted a nuclear stress test 3 months ago but my ins wouldnt cover it bc i passed the exercise stress test
