I woud like to ask how many eeg's did it take to show seizures.What kind of eeg did you have?Did you continue your seizure meds before the eeg,and for how long.If you started seizure meds before your eeg did your seizures change?

I had aprox. 12 eeg's and that is sleep and no sleep eegs before a seizure showed up on one. It took 9 years for this to happen. About half of the eef's I was on no med's and the other half I was on meds. This is for the reason the first eegs I was on no meds to start with. Latter I was alergic to most medicines on the market at the time that controled seizures. Finialy Neurontin, topamax, and febatol came out. I did not find that my seizures changed at all. My earliest EEGs showed little to no seizure activity despite the fact that I was having constant complex and simple partial seizures at home. Home is where I was stressed out all the time, and then when at the hospital I would get totally relaxed and then nothing would happen.
They did a few 24-hr sleep-deprived video EEG, after reducing my meds, and then results did show in the EEG. Since meds are supposed to suppress seizures it makes sense that many EEGs wouldn't show seizure activity.

I had several EEGs with no findings. Some in the office a 24 hour at home. I was not controled by meds. I was then admitted to the hospital for intensive EEG monitoring, due to the fact I was a surgery candidate. I was drawn off all my meds several days prior to being admitted. They recorded a simple partial the first night I was there. What happened after that is a really long story. Any way, several years later I went through another bout of intensive monitoring, different hospital. I took myself off my meds a couple days before I was to be admitted. Due to the fact I new it would take a few days for anything to inspire. I sat for 10 days with nothing happening. Then boom! 13 in 2 days! 2 days I don't remember. That was my experience. But remember everyones triggers can be different.
