I have been trying to build up endurance running on a treadmill and just got up to 2 miles; just as I was finishing my run and cooling down I had a grand mal seizure. My seizures are normally under control with dilantin/lamictal. I was pretty exhausted and out of breath at the end of the run: is anyone aware of very strenuous excercise like this bringing on a seizure? Thanks, jp

fluorosiloxane,
Hi!
In answer to your question, I suppose one of your triggers can be physical exhaustion. I was told, by one of my previous neuorologists, that most seizures tend to occur when the body is relaxed. I believe it in my case. All the seizures that I have had have happened when I was relaxed. I only have partial seizures so maybe thats different. I've only had one tonic clonic seizure and was sitting holding my sleeping newborn. Thank goodness I was with people. Anyway, ask your neurologist if physical exertsion can cause seizures. Hope this helps. Johnna

I can really relate to what your saying,I definitly expierence more problems when I'm physically exhausted, sick, or straining myself.I have complex partial seizures though and don't know if that makes any difference. I think talking to your doctor is a good idea.

During EEG testing, one of the stimuli they present is hyperventilation. For me, hyperventilation is a trigger for seizures (grand mal). Is it possible that this may be a trigger for you?
