I've been having bad breath for a couple of months now, I used to cover it up with chewing gum but recently the smell has been getting worse, chewing gum makes it worse. Sometimes it's a very stale smell whilst recently it's been getting worse, I can't describe the smell but it's revolting.
I went to my doctor and he dismissed it, he said there's nothing they can do and maybe the bacteria will just clear up soon over time. It's really making me feel depressed and unhappy, I can't interact with friends and it's a huge barrier in my life.
I read about Halitosis and maybe it's that. I done a test as I saw my tongue was yellow, I scraped my tongue and smelt the saliva, it smelt of the bad breath which tells me the smell is coming from the tongue. How do I cure it? Is there anything I can do to kill the bacteria? I don't smoke and I drink plenty of water so that's not an issue.
I tend not to go out and I stay away from mates at college. It's really killing me inside and I don't know what to do :(
Please help me or give me some advice :(

It is hard to give you a definite answer with out more information:
You say your tongue was yellow:
Was it Yellow-white by chance? Is the texture of your tongue different?
Furry or very fuzzy?
Have you had your wisdom teeth out recently?
Taken in antibiotics recently?
If some of the above questions are positive look into Oral Thrush... not bad, just stinky and annoying... easily fixed.
Have you looked at your tonsils?
Does it feel like you have sand, or bits of something stuck to them when you swallow?
Have you ever dragged out little hard wrinkled yellow white balls?
If so look into tonsil stones... another common source of bad breath. The only cure for this is a tonsillectomy. So get relief by gargling with listerine a few times a day.
Sorry I could not be of more help.
Sincerely,

My Son had terrible breath all through childhood and untill now 24 years and we have sorted it out, also had terrible feet, his socks would be stiff when going in the washing machine. The only thing that stopped both was Pro-biotics one a day from the chemist..
Just poppped in to let you know, never know untill you try.

Ive had this problem before.... and it was due to dental problems
Floss your teeth like crazy!! Most people dont know how to floss correctly... i JUST learned..... i tried flossing the problem away... it didnt work.... until i went to the dentist and he showed me the proper way:
Rub the floss on both sides of each tooth, and up into the gum line on both sides of each tooth!!...
Before i was just sticking the floss in between each tooth once (not twice to get both sides) !!!
Quickly my bad breathe went away!!!

I could be caused by reflux as well. You dont actually have to have pain with acid reflux either. Do you have a metalic taste in your mouth as well? If so, the bad breath is most likely coming from your stomach.

There are soooo many causes for bad breath you will be surprised. allergies, sinus infections, post nasal drip, h.pylori, dental problems and lots of other things (one might be cause of the other). But people and docs are usually clueless about it and will only mention the latter (dental problems). Of the million things I've tried only TUNG brush with tung gel helped me. Seriously, it takes all of that white gunk off your tongue while tongue scrapers just well... scrape it and leave most of that stuff there. Try it its very cheap like 5$ for burhs +$5 for gel and I can assure you you wont regret it. However dont stop looking for the cause of your bb as it might not be only on the tongue.
