I was just wondering about and thinking about somethings. I read in many places that it actually takes a lot of calories to gain even one pound (around 3,500). If thats true then why are so many Americans overweight?? And if it takes quite a few calories to gain a pound why do I seem to gain even if I only eat 1,200 calories a day?

mops, this happens to me all the time, every week my weight is so different, this week i've gained 2.5 lbs and there is no way i've eaten that many extra calories, i just posted a reply to this very similar question under rapid weight gain post, read that and see if it makes any sense, this whole weight loss, and weight gain i believe is different in everyone, and to us with ed our bodies process food differently i believe because how we treat our bodies. we don't eat as many calories as we should so it shuts down our whole metabolism, i think, that is why we may gain on only 1200 cals because our bodies hold onto every morsel without burning it off, this is just a theory let me know what you think take care case
