View Full Version : I caught my girlfriend inducing vomiting

About two weeks ago I caught my girlfriend throwing up in the bathroom. I looked underneath the door and saw her feet in the kneeling over the toilet position. I confronted her about it and she told me that she hadn't done it since high school and she just did it that one time. Should I believe her? I am really concerned about her now because I was out in her living room last night and I tried to get into her room and she had locked the door to her room (there is a bathroom in her room too). Should I suspect that she was in her bathroom throwing up? She has told me that she had suffered from bulimia before when she was in high school, I am just wondering if she has relapsed, or if she has ever fully recovered, and what I can do to help her. I don't want her to feel as if she needs to be bulimic in order to lose weight. Thanks for any input.

She is most likely lieing to you. People who have ed are seldom honest about it. It is something that is very shameful and secret.

Well, how do I go about helping her without making her mad? I was thinking about informing her mother, but I don't know... I have no idea how to help her.

I struggled with mine for 3 years and although I was ashamed for anybody to know about it , it really helped me to have somebody know. When ever i was about to binge i could always turn to my friend and she would be able to talk me out of it sometimes. I guess you should talk to her about it and when you think she is struggling try to give all the positive support you can. You have got to be strong for her. If she does have an ed you need to help her help herself. I wish i had told my mom when i was sick becuase she always worried about my depression and it was really scary for her not knowing what was wrong with me. I was just ashamed. It is 2 years later an i just told her last week. It helps me to know she knows. there will probably be times htat she seems mad at you but it isn't really you she is mad at, it is herself. it won't be easy.
