View Full Version : Is this normal after tonsilectomy?

I had a tonsilectomy 14 days ago, and my scabs fell off. I am alomst 100% better. But my question is, on one side of my uvula, the opening to my throat is much bigger than the other. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem? Does it go back to normal eventually, or is this something that has to be fixed by more surgery? When I went back for my post op check-up, the ENT says it is still just swollen, and it is nothing to be worried about, but I am still a little worried. Please let me know if anyone has had a similar experience. I have searched the web to no avail. Thanks!!

First we are all naturally close to being symmetrical, but depending on each of your tonsils and the under lying throat bed, one may have been more tramatized than the other. My right side stayed swollen about 5 days longer that the left.. but they eventually went back to normal.

Sincerely,
MG
