For whatever reason, the matrix will not always produce a tight weave of nail plate cells adn it will leave tiny voids between the cells. This will show up in the nail as tiny white lines and is called Leuconychia. It isn't worrisome - it just loks funny. They will grow out with the nail plate. Some people get them all the time, some people rarely get them and some people never get them.
