I have a heavy cold at the moment which is giving me lots of pressure around my eyes, nose and head. I was so blocked up last night it took 5 hours to get to sleep and after that i still kept waking up. My colds are nearly always heavy but this one has been worse. Yesterday i was taking lemsip tablets (the maximum dose allowed), cough sweets, cough medicine, drinking hot tea which is supposed to be good but nothing helped.

I really want to get a hot compress like this: http://www.amazon.com/Duro-Med-TheraBeads-Sinus-Relief-Compress/dp/B0007ISCQO/sr=1-2/qid=1164122373/ref=sr_1_2/102-7734808-9513753?ie=UTF8&s=hpc.
Does anyone know where i could buy anything similar?

I can only find a couple on amazon.com especially for sinus pain but they won't ship health products to England :( I think the compresses in chemists where i live are usually for sports/strain injuries (maybe i could use this instead?)

I'd be very grateful for any ideas, short term remedies etc.

Try taking a decongestant/antihistamine combination (actifed, demazin) and inhaling the steam from very hot water with some eucyliptus oli added (use a towel over your head to trap the steam in)

This should clear the congestion.

Taking paracetamol PLUS ibuprofen will releive the pain, fever and discomfort
