I am moving into a moderately sized townhouse and I am planning on getting a cat and a small dog. The problem is, I have a dear friend who I would like to have visit often, but she has allergies to animals, especially to cats.

Can anyone recommend an air purifier that will help with this problem? I've checked online for recommendations, but I'm now more confused than I was when I started.

Also, if anyone has any other remedies besides purifiers, I'd be willing to listen.

Thanks

Allerpet is a wonderful product - you simply wipe your pet down with it before company comes. It helps my allergies (3 inside cats).

I usually buy it online or at the local pet store.

Also, there is a vacuum spray for carpets that helps with pet hair and allergins. I think it is by Arm & Hammer, in an orange can.

Hope this helps

A good HEPA filter should help a lot, but it all depends on the severity of your friend's allergy. If you own the house, I highly recommend getting a whoe-house air cleaner attached to your air conditioning/furnace system. As good as HEPA is, it only affects the room it is in.
