My son started having petit mal seisures when he was 2 years old and they stopped for 20 years. he was not on any medication in that time. Now all of a sudden 20 years later they have come back. He went to see a neurologist and went on dilantin..this medication nearly drove him nuts with anxiety. to the point where he could not be left alone. he then went on tegratol and this medication did not agree with him either. it changed his personality like you would not believe. he used to be outgoing but when taking tegretol he was not outgoing at all. he was tired all the time and kept to himself. he made the decision to come off all medication because of the way it was making him feel. so no medicaton for three months. a week ago he had a grand mal seizure in which he was taken to emergency. he went back to see the doc and went back on tegretol. now he is having numbness on his left side since he start taking this tegretol again. has anyone heard of this before? i would appreciate a reply back asap as i am a really worried mom! thanks...tweeteebird

tweety,

Hi Hon, when I was taking that it changed my attitude as well ask him if it makes him dizzy and nautious they took me off it after that as they realized I had Aplastic anemia (spelling) which is a form of lukemia it affects the bones it was in my hips and my arms therefore made them weak later in life but they were able to catch it soon enough to put it in remission... those two drugs are strong and they need to be monitored. So anytime you see a change you need to check with the doctor. I am thankful to this day I caught it at an early stage... ask your doctor if he can try phenobarbitol this worked for me although it doesn't agree with everyone. Good luck hon

Hugs
Koko
