View Full Version : totaly thyroidectomy

Hi, I had a total thyrodectomy about a year ago. I was found to have cancer is the reason why they did it. During the surgery my phernic nerve was cut and my juggler vein was messed with... so now my right lung is paralyzed and I hear a "whoosing" sound in my right ear most of the time... now I am just going deaf in that ear. I had major problems for months... fluid in my spine... not being able to retain good oxygen etc... usually one would have the radiation done within weeks of the surgery... I did not have it until almost 10 months later. I have swelling at the right side of my neck and have for quite some time. Now that there really is no reason for it to be there I am going back in on the 5th of Dec to have it checked out once again... hope it is not cancerous! Anyway, I really would like to know what would of happened if I would of tried to walk around the block or at a mall before they found out about the phernic nerve.... I almost did that so many times, I am so curious what would of happened to me.... and another thing... my dentist claims that they do not take the whole thyroid out... is this correct? I just took the name to heart. Thank you for your time and effort in helping answering my questions. Happy Holidays
