Please forgive me if I ramble on but this has been months of testing without a diagnosis.

My husband is 42. Since April he has been undergoing every test under the sun for weight loss and nausea. Normally weighs about 180 or so and have managed to keep it maintained at 135-140. He had a PET SCAN after dr's all suspected a cancer but none could locate one. The only hot spot that showed was his pineal gland in his brain. Had MRI with and without contrast and stated "a large calcification is present within the pineal gland." It also showed alot of sinus issues and stated a "mass" effect.

He went to the neurosurgeon and she seemed more concerned with the sinus issues. Set up follow up appt/mri in 6 months. In her defense, it looked like a huge tumor in his face but the sinus expert he saw did more testing and ruled out a mass just a under developed/deformed maxillary sinus. Refused to treat till he went thru onc at the hospital because from his symptom and seeing him he could tell something was wrong. Once again cancer suspected but cant find it!!! Onc said they wouldn't see him and for him to go thru internal medicine. That is where the story ended over two months ago. Never received a call with a appt time. My husband I'm sure was just enjoying the break of being tested and didn't push the issue either.

This brings me to now. Today talking to me he fell over. He explained to the neuro at the time of the appt if he gets up to soon he falls. I hadn't seen this till today although I have heard him say it. He wasn't in the process of standing when this happened. He had been standing and looked up....I am taller than he is....and down he went. He was confussed for a few min got up and acted like it was normal to him. He is moody, confussed, forgetful. I want him to go to the ER but he wont go. I will call the neurosurgeon tomorrow and get him in sooner if possible. Any advice?

Perhaps they should do an MRA of the Neck and Head to look at the arteries. If he's falling over, I would probally go to the ER, you don't know if this is life threatening or not. Sometimes with certain problems, timeing is very important and every second can count. You might also want a second opinon on his brain situation, he may need an operation. I don't know.. this is unfamilar territory, but as it is, you don't know what's going on, its important to be firm with these docs to make sure they get to the bottom of this, don't let them blow you off. Make lots of noise, be persistant, call the office a lot, get on their nerves, sometimes that is what it takes for them to take you seriously.
