I have been on Topamax for 7 days, when will it start working?

Sponsor Dakota_Skye 11-26-2006, 11:24 AM hi girl, since it needs to build up in your system (to actually have an effect on the neurotransmitters in the brain), and since it is a preventive med., give it 4-8 weeks to get the full impact. if you feel as if your migraines do not lessen at all after that time (the topamax will NOT stop the migraines, it will just make them occur less often), then tell your dr. he may then up your dosage. i've taken it for more than a year now, and it's been a godsent!!!!! my migraines have gone from about 7-9 a month to about 2-4 a month. as you know, any improvement is better than suffering that hell! good luck to you!! |
