my friend very recently had a car crash whilst driving. tragically the passenger died. He is in a very bad way. can anyone recommend any books to help him deal with his grief.

I would suggest that you bypass the book route, and get him to a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or other mental health professional. The sooner he begins getting help, the better off he may be.
