Has anyone suffered from a severe rash without itching after using sunscreen?

I know a woman who thought that her daughter was allergic to sunscreen for years and then she found out that she was allergic to the sun (solar uticaria). I guess you could put a bit of the sunscreen on a small spot and then stay out of the sun (like when you sleep) and see if you still get a rash from it?
