My daughter was getting headaches, hearing voices, feeling compulsive about certain activities like bathing. I took her to a neurologist today....they did a brain scan...and the other test....with the electrodes....diagnosis was abnormal activity in left lobe. His prescription is for Trileptal...so I came here to check it out...and discovered it was for epilepsy. NO mention was made by the doctor of epilepsy...so I"m curious....is this drug used for other brain disorders as well?
thanks

Nikamx-
My friend has a son who is diagnosed bipolar.
They put him on among other meds, Depakote, which has long been known to be used with seizures...though he has never had a seizure.
So I think your answer is that she does not have to have seizures (epilepsy is a blanket term which I was told meant seizures of unknown origin)to be taking a med that is normally for seizures.
She may have been prescribed the med to normalize brain functions.
Wish you luck,
Marilyn
