Hi all, heres my brief story---It all started 2 years ago after I got a chest cold, my lungs ached for 2 days, well that went away, and so started the allergies---my symptoms are---stuffy nose with clear mucous, red irritated eyes, wheezing, my ears feel like they are stuffy, like going from a low altitude to a higher altitude, pressure ya know, they also ring, pop and hiss like a montana bonfire, well the doc said my euchestrian (sp) tubes are swollen, and that gives me the ear probs, also when my allergies are really excited, I sometimes see spots of light, my eyes sometimes are light sensitive as well, pretty much, I feel like I have a cold all the time, not to mention when me ears are pressurised, I get a bit off balance---well all this fun filled allergic symphony makes my anxiety kick in, sometimes bad, sometimes not, I'm not a big fan of meds, but I did try allegra D...made me way too jumpy, so I think I will try some OTC stuff to get some relief.....it seems we all have the same symptoms, kinda like our own little club, where misery is the only requirement for entry, anyhow....just wanted to post my short story---Bill

So why haven't you done the allergy shots? Or taken something without a decongestant? Two years of suffering should have moved you towards a better management program.

I'm a big chicken when it comes to needles, I dont even like to look at them, I use benadryl and it helps, but nothing ever does the job 100%

Please get your allergies treated. My mother has emphysema that was caused by non-tobacco factors, partly chemicals at work, partly undiagnosed (and untreated) asthma. Now she is 82 and on oxygen 24/7, has been for 4 years now. Can't be sure, but I think if Mom had been treated with proper meds she would not have this....in my not-so-humble opinion. She always took great care of her health and was "fine" until about age 75.

I hate needles too. The allergy nurses hated having to give me my shots. They were as glad as I was at the end of the 5 years. And this was my third time on them! But I can't survive on just the oral meds. So I just suck it up and do it when the situation demands it. I also have asthma so I'm sort of in a double bind if I don't take them.

Research the "Raw Food" diet. It healed up my allergies in 3 months time. Never had allergies again.

I was the desense shots for five years. About five years after completing them, I went on the macrobiotic diet with a friend who had cancer. Was tested (skin pricks on the back) by a different doctor five months after going on the diet... no allergies at all (hmmmm). Either it was the shots, the diet, or the doc didn't know what he was doing. For what it is worth.

It was probably the shots. After 5 years on them, that is the result you want when retested--no more allergies.
