View Full Version : EC & Birth Control- Please Help!

Here is the situation. I hope someone can provide answers, it would really set my mind at ease! I had an EC treatment on Tues. Nov. 7th, about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had not been on Birth Control for a very long time, but I recieved a prescription for Loestrin 24 Fe, in addition to being given the EC treatment. I was instructed by the doctor to start the Loestrin pack the SAME DAY, and not wait until the sunday after my period (which is usually between the 17th and the 21st) I have not been sexually active since the EC treatment.

There were two phases of my appointment, the EC portion where they gave me both pills (Plan B brand) and the pap smear & check up, where they gave me the Rx. The two segments of the appointment seemed to be completely independent of each other, and one nurse told me that I should start my period within a week of the EC treatment, maybe a bit more. The other nurse in the Birth Control part of the whole thing said I would get my period when I get to the brown pills.

SO my question is, which is it? I have 4 more days of active pills (not counting today) until I get to the inactive pills, but it's been 3 1/2 weeks since the EC, and no period. It is the 26th, and under normal conditions, I would now be 5 days late for my period. Are the hormones in the BC re-arranging everything? Will I now have my period whenever the active pills run out each month, instead of my usual time?

Also, I have been pregnant before, and I am having similar symptoms, although I have heard, and past experiences with BC have told me, that the symptoms are nearly the same. I am only nauseous when I take the pill, and not in the morning, as it was when I was pregnant. My breasts are sore, but not as bad as when I was pregnant, mood swings are horrible, but still not as bad as when I was pregnant, so on and so forth. If this normal when starting BC for the first time in a while?

Sorry this is so long! I am sooo confused. Please help shed some light on this situation.

You will probably start a couple of days into the inactive pills. Then again, you might skip this period - sometimes happens the first cycle on the pill. Just take them all like normal. Good luck!

This is all very common for starting out BC again. You get nauseated only when you take the pill itself, not in the morning, which means that symptoms is obviously the pill. As for the other symptoms, it's all just like the things that women experience when they start the pill. I don't think there is any reason for you to believe that you are pregnant. You have no idea how powerful the Plan B is. That stuff would have taken care of any accidental pregnancy, you have no reason to think you are pregnant.

Ok so I am still not on the brown pills, but yesterday I got my period. At least I thought I did. It stopped today, and was light, but didn't seem light enough to just be spotting or somehting like that. Any ideas? I'm still sooo confused, although the previous comments helped ease my mind!
