Just checking to see what the dosage is for Infants Motrin drops.....Does anyone know?

DS will be 5 months tomorrow and weights 16 pounds. His teething is really bothering him and I really try to shy away from Tylenol.

Thanks! :))

First of all let me say that I would check with your pediatrician before giving Motrin to your infant for the first time. I have a Motrin dosing scale here and this is what it states:

This applies to Concentrated Motrin Infants' Drops

Under 6 months - Consult your child's doctor
12- 17 pounds (6-11 months) - 1.25ml
18-23 pounds (12-23 months) - 1.875ml

One dose lasts 6-8 hours.

Be careful not to give Motrin any more often than every 6 hours or as directed by your doctor. Motrin can be toxic to the kidneys if used improperly.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the posting Amy! I hate using tylenol for the strain it puts on the liver, but then motrin puts strain on the kidneys. UGhh! :) DS has a follow up friday for an ear infection---I will try to keep him distracted until then. I'd much rather use motrin, but will check with the doc.

again, thanks! :)
