I have a question about syphilis. Me and my fiance was diagnosed with syphilis a month ago. But here is my story me and my fiance have always been honest with each other and never kept anything from one another and I have never cheated on him he says he never cheated on me and I believe him because why would he not tell me when he tells me everything even if it is bad he still tells me. We have been together for 6 years now. Now my question is Is their different kinds of syphilis? I looked all over the internet and some places I looked said their is But some say their is not. So my next question is I had a boyfriend about 8 or so years ago who was sexually active when he was with me could I have gotten it from him or was that to long ago? It is tearing me apart the thought of my fiance cheating on me when we have always been truthfull with each other. I just want some info to help ease my mind about this. If anyone could help that would be so great right now. I also am pregnant with his baby so it is alot of stress for me right now.

You could have had syphilis for 8 years, this does not mean he cheated on you. What test was done? Just curious.

the only test they did on me was a blood test. Then gave me the 2 shots.

While it may be rarely possible to carry syphilis that long, it's extremely unlikely. Syphilis is caused by a bacterial infection and it's very unlikely you would have gone 8 years without symptoms. Typically, syphilis symptoms begin 10-90 days with a chancre. I can understand that your boyfriend tells you everything, but something like this is a little different...
