Hi, Im 26.
I have been having a bit of pain under my left boob going around to my back. my doctor does not think this is anything to worry about. also feeling like i've pulled a muscle under my arm.
as i worry so much i started checking for lumps and found one underneath my left nipple.
Obvisouly this sent me into a panic. I had it checked out a scan and a biopsy which came back saying all is benign but they didnt know what it was.
a month on and my breast has become very sore by the lump and around the lump. the lump is 2cm.

Has anyone had this before?

A few years ago I developed a painful lump just to left of my nipple. I had a needle test, and mamagram done, and the Doctor was at first convinced that it was a cancerous tumour and he said because of where the lump was that I would need to have my breast removed.he seemed so sure at the time. He wanted me in the next week for the surgery and then we could discuss the type of follow up treatment that I would need to have. I asked for a biopsy to be taken first instead(remember so far only a small amount from the needle test had been looked at.) He agreed to this and I had a biopsy done under general anesthetic. After an agonising week of worry, and the byopsy looked at by aparently 3 patholagists because the others couldnt agree,I was told(thank God) that it wasnt cancer after all.

It turned out to be somthing called a "granuloma Mastitus" The Doctor said that under the microscope and whatever else they do with these things, that it did very much resemble cancer. Around the same time I had started taking prednisalone for Ulcerative Colitis and once the lump was drained it disapeared all by its self.

I am telling you all this to show that not all lumps and bumps turn out to be cancer. I am wondering if maybe your lump is somthing similer to what I had.

If anyone reading this has any info on "granuloma Masitus"i would be very interested to read about it. I have never been able to find much information out at all. And I must admit that it did cross my mind that the Doctor might have told me the story about the 3 pathologists and the granuloma being rare, just to cover up that he made a mistake.

Ps, please everyone,"always" get a second opinion.

Icky,

My sister just recently had the same sypmtoms you have. She had a 2cm lump under the left nipple. She had a scan and a biopsy. The Dr. said is was also nothing to be worried about. She had it removed almost a month ago. It was hard tissue. They don't know why it showed up. But she was in a lot of pain before the procedure. She was also panicked and thought CANCER. But don't jump to conclusions. And get a second opinion I couldn't agree more with Suzy. I hope everything works out for the best. Keep us posted.

thank you for you replys.
I have an appointment today with the breast clinic so he can have a look again and find out why im in so much pain. even under my armpit it becoming sore. im hoping its just an infection somewhere.
i got a bit scared the other night so went to the hospital and they did an xray just to see if there was an infection in my ribs or to see if it is cancer and its spread as i've had alot of pain below my breast in my ribs.
the chest xray came back clear so im hoping its nothing serious.
very anxious

The consultant had a feel and said he wasnt concerned and to come and see him again in 6 months.
still really concerned though as i still have the pain and also have the feeling still like i have pulled a muscle under my arm. think my anxiety is in over drive at the moment.
part of me thinks well his the consultant he should know if things dont feel right.
just seem to have got it into my head that this is cancer.
