View Full Version : Mesh Feeder Questions

A friend just gave me her mesh feeder as her son has never taken to it. Since it was technically used it came with no instructions and I am just wondering what is the best way to use it? What foods work best? Do you cook them first?
Thanks!

I used things like soft fruit, such as cantaloupe and watermelon. If they were things like veggies just cook the carrots or whatever it is to make them soft. It is a bit messy but my ds really liked using it. During teething I would freeze watermelon and put it in there. It does entertain them for ahwile at least!

I was thinking of using this to introduce some of the veggies (and eventually fruits) to avoid doing too much puree but perhaps it isn't really a way to substitute feeding but rather just for getting a taste??? (if I made any sense there???)
He's just doing cereal right now for a little while but I'd like to move to veggies in a week or two and thought this might be a way to do it.

I asked this same question a while back and you may want to search for that thread because a few people listed many foods for it. I have put red seedless grapes into mine. I also tried a banana, but stay away from it because it is extremely hard to clean a banana out of the mesh. I also put her rice cereal in it the other day because for the past 1.5 months, but daughter won't eat. She just refuses to open her mouth, but she likes food.

How did the cereal work out in it? I was thinking this might be something I'd try to get him used to it as this is all he eats till next week (or later). Right now I just use ice cubes in it for the poor lads upper teeth...my little drool monster!!!
